BITCHES - Judge Joe Smith

Many thanks to the secretary and committee for inviting me, I really enjoyed the day amongst 75 bitches making an entry of 99, which was only topped by Crufts this year. Lastly thankyou to the exhibitors for bringing their Danes for me to judge.

Minor puppy (10) 1st Pendleton-Watkins & Pendleton. Zefather's Kind of Magic for Goldania, fawn of just six months, pretty head, dark eye, well-proportioned body, moved confidently, happy temperament.

2nd Lawson, Murrayvhayle Missbehave at Droolakiss, at seven months this youngster has a slightly larger frame to fill, balanced headpiece, ears well set. Loved her bone and substance, super feet.

3rd Owen, Tyak Golden Jubilee.

Puppy (8) 1st Morgan-Evans, Vanmore Spill the Beans, at just 7 months this clear fawn is quite something, when standing she has a most attractive outline, her head is nicely balanced with lovely eyes. Super bone yet still totally feminine. She has attitude and her tail never stopped. My Best Puppy Bitch and with my co judge she went Best Puppy in Show.

2nd Donnelly, Primus Go with The Flow, another very promising puppy, lovely head and neck. Sound front. Excellent bone and substance. Moved with confidence.

3rd Worsley, Primus Encore avec Malpa.

Junior (10) 1st Rosalba & Di Paolantonio. Culseadanes Janet Weiss, quality fawn of 13 months, well-proportioned head, good bite. liked her front and rear angles. Soundly made body, impressive outline standing.

2nd Harrison, Ricco My One and Only. Liked her head and eye. Classy neck and clean front. Soundly made, she moved well, solid temperament.

3rd Cubitt, Zebeldanes Paint It Black.

Yearling (5) 1st Clark, Ch Garsak Summer Days at Mintrex, at 18 months this youngster already carries her title. So typical of the breed. Delightful head and expression. Lovely neck and front assembly, nicely ribbed, with super top line and croup. Beautifully put together and so well balanced. In my final 4 for the CC. Reminded me of Flamenco who was my best bitch when I judged the league in 2005.

2nd Jones, Jacqukir Time for Change, 23 months. Looked nicely balanced standing. Scored for rear angulation, super feet and pasterns.

3rd Page & Concannon, Novavida Our American Dream.

Novice (11) 1st Owen. Tyak Golden Jubilee, fawn of just six months. A real baby. Put up a good show and made the most of her time in the ring. Feminine head with dark eye, sound front, good bone and feet, sound temperament.

2nd McLellan, Kinnegans Daydream Believer at Anadain, 9 months and nicely put together. Head coming on well. Good neck and front assembly. Okay top line, sound rear.

3rd White, Taradanes Starstruck.

Post Graduate (10) 1st Bourton-Thorne, Verano Vivacious. Fawn of 22 months. Balanced head, good earset, nice eye and good bite, at times she stands a little high in the rear, enthusiastic mover, happy temperament.

2nd Pocock, Tamzdane Bananas on The Rum. Harlequin of 18 months. Pleasing head with clean lip line, soundly made body with good muscle tone. Moved and handled to advantage.

3rd Page & Concannon, Novavida Pendle Dreamer.

Limit (8) 1st Morgan-Evans, Vanmore Magic Spell, two-year-old fawn of the highest quality. Lovely head with the muzzle blending into the skull so well. Elegant neck, lovely forehand, well-made body with good depth of chest allowing for plenty of heart room. Super top line. Strong rear. Easy action on the move. In my final 4 for the CC.

2nd Cranfield, Zefathers Rumour Has It. Two-year-old fawn presents a balanced outline standing. Feminine head with lovely expression. Scored for bone and substance. Moved soundly. Shown in hard condition.

Special Veteran (4) 1st Sneddon, Ch Culseandanes House of Tully. Six-year-old fawn, top quality bitch. Loved her size, substance, outline.so well put together, feminine head, super neck, clean front, strong rear, held her top line on the move. My Best Veteran bitch and with my co judges’ approval, Best Veteran in Show.

2nd Tempest, Ch Adoreadane Just the Ticket JW, 7-year-old Harlequin, another bitch out of the top drawer, liked her head and neck, sound front, well-made body. Good top line and croup. Moved well. Excellent temperament.

3rd Cook, Ziran Zsa Zsa.

Special Open Black (4) 1st Page & Concannon, Novavida Purple Calla Lily, quality bitch of 19 months. Nicely proportioned head. Elegant neck, sound front and rear angles. Typical profile standing.

2nd Simpson, Renescent Cream of The Crop. another of 19 months. Needs to strengthen in pasterns, not too happy to let me go over her.

Special Open Brindle (5) 1st Morgan, Rimor Athena's Kyss. 17-month-old dark brindle. Classy and elegant. Pleasing head and neck. Well-made body, good top line, moving a tad close behind.

2nd Ingram, Zwiebelchen in Flagranti with Dainmajik, Golden brindle of two and a half years. Moved well enough, nice to see a forechest. Good outline on the stack.

3rd Lawson, X-foots Dagas Huida to Droolakiss.

Special Open Fawn (5) 1st Mclellan, Ch Jutlanders Bat Out of Hell to Anadain, Three-year-old fawn, what a cracker. Looks good standing with a superb profile. Lovely headpiece, ears well placed. kind eye, good mouth. Arched neck into a strong top line, good depth of chest. The best of legs and feet, strong rear, in hard condition, my Res CC.

2nd Pendleton-Watkins & Pendleton, Goldania's Celtic Princess. Two-year-old who has a lot to like, scored for size and substance. Pleasing head with a good eye, lovely neck and forehand, feet could be tighter.

3rd Page & Concannon. Novavida Mist Over Pendle.

Special Open Harlequin, (9) 1st Tempest, Ch Adoreadane Just the Ticket JW.

3rd Ingram, Gracia vom Dwergter Sand at Dainmajik.

Special Open Mantle (2) 1st Bielecka, Rosetta Czar Olbryzma in Alegriagiant, 9 months and needs time. happy temperament, very good feet. Coat in good order.

Open (5) 1st Chappell, Ch Selmalda Oh Lori, two-and-a-half-year-old fawn, stunning outline, all parts fitting together so well. Her head is feminine and well balanced, clear eye and good bite, correct lip line. Lovely neck and front assembly, good depth and width of chest, elbows tucked neatly in. Her top line is strong and her croup and tail set spot on. Her quarters show good angulation and hard muscle tone. She was shown in top condition to take the CC, Best Opposite Sex in show and Reserve Best in Show. Beaten for Best in Show by her litter brother.

2nd Ingram, Gracia vom Dwergter Sand at Dainmajik, stood third in special open harlequin. At 22 months she is of very good type, with very good bone and substance. Balanced headpiece, strong body, good rear angles.
