THE MIDLAND & WEST OF ENGLAND GREAT DANE CLUB Ch Show 2017  Judge Bill Paterson


I would like to thank the Committee of the Midland and West of England Great Dane Club for inviting me to judge Dogs at their Christmas Championship show on 3rd December 2017.  My last appointment from them I had to withdraw due to illness, thank you for being patient and inviting me the second time around.

Since my last Great Dane appointment 2 years ago, I found the quality of the Males much improved, still a big varaition of type.


MINOR PUPPY DOG (8+6)

1.Bishton Jaydania Billy Joel Fawn of  7 months loads of substance and bone. Dark eye, good dentition. Would of prefered a little narrower in skull. So well deleloped in for chest. Correct shoulders little short in neck, good topline, angulation and croup good, moved well coming and going. B.P.D.

2.Walton Ravendane Ironman 9 months old harlequin very well marked. Well off for bone, pleasing head, correct dark eye of good shape. Little long cast in body.

Well placed shoulders, good topline and croup. Ample hind angulation. Movement a little eratic hopefully will improve with age.

3.Stanton Jaydania Bruno Mars.

PUPPY DOG (3)

1,Griffin Griffindane Athos 10 months old fawn, pleasing correct head with dark eye, well placed shoulders good chest. Nice tight feet, good reach of neck little soft in topline. Good croup, would like more angulation behind. Good mover coming and going.

2. Bishton & Marriott Griffindane Tigris Well marked brindle brother to one. Dark correct eye pleasing head, very similar remarks to one both very typey 1st  is more together at this age.

3.Park Rayjen Ace of Clubs

JUNIOR (6+1)

1.Thurlby Justinian Lord Bradley JW Fawn very upstanding youngster loved his very alert expression, correct head with dark eye. Well filled in chest correct shoulder placement cat like feet, good reach of neck, little soft in topline. Good croup, again would like more angulation. Moved well coming and going and in profile.

2.Sneddon Culseandanes Tyrion The Imp 13 months fawn heavier in type to 1st. Strong male head with nice dark eye and clack mask correct front standing in profile would prefer a longer neck. Not as long as one again would prefer more angulation. Little untidy in front movement.

3.MacDonald Tamzdane Dough'Ble impact of Ranaldane

YEARLING (6+1)

1.Brandy Garsak Sir Bradley Wiggins Loved this male standing and was not disappointed when I went over him, hence today winning the R.C.C. Fawn good correct head good for face dark eye, my only criticism would of preferred a more tidy ear placement. Good well filled in chest lovely reach of neck with good shoulders, strong topline good croup ample rear angulation. All this with a very nice temprement and ring attitude. Moved well coming and going. One that should gain his title in time.

2.Searle Drolakiss True Gentleman to Murrayvhayle. Fawn pleasing head with dark eye, good reach of neck well placed shoulders, cat like feet slightly long cast good croup and ample angulation little untidy on the move coming and going.

3. McGowans Kinnegans Twisted Fire Starter

POST GRADUATE DOG (6+1)

1.Taylor Equleus Solar Warrior of Enydelet  Fawn of good breed type, pleasing head with dark mask well filled in chest with a good lay of shoulder good topline and croup moved well.

2. Robinson Preveli Be Yourself  Male of good head proportion rind expression well filled body with good moved well.

3. Ingram Lady Dainmajik The Wizard

LIMIT (6)

1.  Burns Garsak Sir Rod Stewart  Fawn male of good type and quaitly litter brother to my R.C.C. Good head planes alert expression good front with reach of neck little softer in topline and moved a little close behined but a lovely type.

2. Bishton Bjorg Borg  Fawn of good type heavier in body than one and little shorter in leg. Good alert expression good front topline and croup not as angulated behind as one. Fabulous temperament.

3. Ryan Keirkane is King of the Throne JW

VETERAN (6+2)

1. Harvey CH Keirkane Commander at Clannalba JW Schcm   Looking very good for his age moved around the ring like a youngster. Good breed type stood four squarage.

2. Waring Raverdane Equinox at Elleyenda  Mantle who moved around the ring with ease good breed type pleasing head rept his topline on the move.

3. Robinson Preveli Manos

OPEN BLUE (3+1)

1.Pepper's Sarawen Arch Deacon  Blue at good breed type pleasing head dark correct eye shape. Good bone well filled chest soft in topline good croup and angulation moved ok.

2. Southgate Bombardier Boy via Leamap  Good colour deep slate pleasing head well off for bone standing well was a bit naughty on the move.

SPECIAL OPEN BLACK (5)

1,Pepper's Danemoor Black Watche for Sarawen  Lovely lovely outline standing in excellent condition carrying just enough weight for his frame. Good head dark eye ample reach of neck good croup and topline moved well considered him for the R.C.C.

2. Ballons Bandwar for Aces High Pleasing head with dark eye. Good shoulder placement and carried his topline on the move would of prefered more hind angulation.

SPECIAL BRINDLE (3)

1.Harrison Droolakiss Re Attraction via Emaneaz  Correct colour brindle good size and substance pleasing head with dark mask and eyes. Well filled front, good shoulders, short back good angles moved well.

2. Bishton & Marriott Griffindane Tigris  Good colour 2nd in Puppy Dog.

3. Flanagan Dainmajik The Enchanter for Soupury

SPECIAL FAWN

1,Robinson Preveli Be Yourself..Worthy Winner second in Post Graduate

SPECIAL HARLEQUIN (5)

1. Pocock Tamzdane Oh my Apple Pie SW  Well marked harlequin good head of good size and substance. Good lay at shoulder nice topline which he carried well on the move, would prefer more angulation behined moved well.

2. Shadbolt Akura Final Frontier  Another well marked harlequin at substance stronger in head than one little brood in back skull would like stronger hind quarters. Moved well.

3. Simpson Renescent Super Sic

SPECIAL OPEN MANTLE (5+1)

1. Pearson Daneworth Legacy  He won on his movement for me a little heavy in head and would like a tighter eye. He has a good front short in body would prefer a better croup.

2. Burton Ravendane Deal me in with Elbarevol  He is well marked. Pleasing head would prefare a better front and more chest topline or an ample angulation moved ok.

3.  Kelleway Damarkann Marquisite

OPEN DOG (8+3)

1. Mosvold Ganteus Alfa Americano il Decimo  4 year old fawn in his prime the star of the day. My type of Dane good head well chiseled long for face good dentition his shoulder placement could be better nice reach of neck good strong topline which he carried well on the move good croup and ample angulation. Happy tail, moved well a good show man stood four square. Was happy to award him his third Challenge Certificate a very worthy champion.

2. Donnelly Primus Breakin News  Another good type today unlucky to meet one a male with good substance correct head well filled in chest shorter in body would prefer more hind angulation. Moved well coming and going.

3. Doyle Irlsh Lux CH Int CH Alarnndanes Micracle Man
